Scientific Name:

Phyllomedua

Bicolor

All of the above names refer to the waxy secretion of a tree frog living in the northwestern part of the Amazon rainforest (in Colombia and on the border between Peru and Brazil).

Due to the presence of nine extremely powerful bio-active peptides, kambô is one of the strongest natural antibiotics and anesthetics found in the world and one of the strongest, natural ways to empower our immune system.

The properties of kambô peptides cover a wide range of potential medical uses:

· Treatment of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s

· Depression, migraines, blood circulation problems, vascular insufficiency

· Organ diseases

· Skin and eye issues

· Fertility problems in women and men

· AID’s, hepatitis

· Cancer and much more

· Other interesting medicinal properties of this secretion are its anti-inflammatory effects

· The capacity to destroy microbes and viruses and heal infections

According to the indigenous people, kambô is first and foremost a Spirit of the forest who is to be treated with respect.

When combined with the water that is consumeed before the treatment, an alchemical transformation happens and old toxins are released through vomiting or urgent defecation. This cleansing process works not only on a physical level but also on a spiritual one. The frog, connecting us with our natural wisdom, mirrors our negative habits, showing us what we should avoid and what we could do in order to improve our condition.

During the kambô treatments, we may receive insights and messages.

RESEARCH

Scientific research on the secretion of this frog started in the 1980’s. Nominated for the Nobel prize, Italian scientist Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome wrote that this secretion contains a ‘fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequaled by any other amphibian’.

So far, researchers have found nine bio- active peptides that have a potent effect on the gastrointestinal muscles, gastric and pancreatic secretions, blood circulation, and on the stimulation of the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland.

Among the several dozen peptides found in kambô, up to 7% are bio-active.’ They bind with receptor sites situated in the brain, triggering chemical reactions in the human body.

· Phyllomedusin strongly affects intestines, bowels and contributes to deep purging.

· Phyllokinin and phyllomedusin are potent vessel dilators, increasing the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. This facilitates access to the brain of these two, as well as the other active peptides.

· Caerulein and sauvagine cause a fall in blood pressure accompanied by tachycardia. They stimulate the adrenal cortex and the pituitary gland, contributing to heightened sensory perception and increased stamina.

· Both of these peptides have a strong analgesic effect, enhance endurance, increase physical strength and in general, enhance the capacity to face pain and stressful situations.

· They possess medical potential as digestive aids, and have demonstrated analgesic effects for those with renal colic, pain due to peripheral vascular insufficiency and cancer pain.

· Dermorphin and deltorphin are potent opioid peptides 4000 times stronger than morphine and 40 times stronger than endogenic b-endorphines.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the effects & benefits of this medicine?

Short term:

· A state of alertness

· Good mood, enhanced resistance to tiredness, hunger and thirst

· The capacity to easily concentrate and focus, and a still mind which can last for several days or weeks.

Long term:

· Kambô empowers the immune system, overcomes fatigue and improves one’s state of health.

· With kambô, we have the opportunity to wake up the body to its full natural potential.

· The people who regularly receive this ‘vaccine’ tend to not get sick and have plenty of energy.

· Restoring a natural balance, it prevents the onset of complaints induced by viruses. Even cancer does not have a chance to grow, in some case.

What is "Panema?"

· Panema is said to be the stored energy that is purged from the body in the form of bile during the session.

· Removing the panema is the main reason to take kambô - which is translated as bad luck, depression, laziness, sadness, or a condition attracting difficulties and disease.

· Removing the cloud of ‘panema’ around our energy field, we become more open to receive from Spirit.

· With kambô, a natural wisdom is taking over our healing process. We know without thinking what we have to do or not to do in a certain situation. We become able to drop unhealthy habits and fixed ideas. In my experience, ideas are often the main obstacle, blocking us from our healing. Kambô affords us the energy we usually don’t have but that we need for our spiritual path.

How often should a person take this medicine?

· A traditional vaccination implies 3 kambo sessions within a matter of a lunar cycle (1 month)

· For best results and continued health, it is advisable to receive kambô regularly.

· In the case of heavy diseases, addictions or accumulated toxins from pharmaceutical medicines, it may be helpful to double the treatments for a while. In this way, the cleansing effects of the kambô treatments will build on one another and will last longer.

How does it work to help the body?

· During a treatment, kambô immediately scans a person’s energy field and starts to work exactly where it is needed.

· The process is different for everyone and the course of treatment should be planned accordingly. I have witnessed some people getting healed in one treatment, especially those with eye or ear problems.

· For people with addictions, results can also happen fast.

· Complicated cases may take longer.

· We may call this frog secretion a medicine, but it doesn’t actually work as a typical medicine nor as a drug. It simply wakes up the body’s organs, endocrine system and defense systems to their natural functions.

Step By Step

OPENING CEREMONY

Ceremony will begin with a smoke-purification ritual called smudging. The smoke of white sage will be fanned over all participants & practitioners, as well as throughout the ceremony space. The purpose is to cleanse impurities, sadness, anxieties, dark thoughts or any unwanted energies or emotions that may be lingering. Opening ceremony may also include breathwork, opening prayer and oracle cards (to clarify intention).

Depending on the client/circle, rapé may also be served for grounding.

GATES

A small incense stick or vine will be used to lightly burn the very top layer of skin. The skin is then carefully removed to create a safe access point for the Kambo. These burns are small and superficial.  There is no blood.  Your gate number and location will be discussed and determined with your practitioner prior to ceremony.

WATER

After the gates are opened, you will start drinking about 1.5 liters of water while your practitioner prepares the Kambo. The water is a terrific helper in the process and acts as a carrier for the purge. You will have no more than 15 minutes to drink the water before Kambo is applied, otherwise it will start being processed by the body.

MIXING POINTS

While you are drinking the water, your practitioner will be mixing points. The dried secretion will be mixed with a little water to form small fine dots.

The finely divided Kambo dots are then applied directly to the gates marked on the skin.

EXPERIENCE

While everyone's experience will be unique, there are some commonalities within the process.

As Kambo enters directly into the lymphatic system, the effects are almost immediate.

Kambo works with your intention and what is needed in the moment. It moves quickly within your body, scanning for problems and then going directly to work on those areas. It is important to understand that Kambo is an incredibly intelligent medicine, and will it find the places within the physical body where emotions, traumas and blocks are stored.

Most people experience a warm to hot flush, growing pressure to the upper body and face, and an increased heart rate right after the first minute of application. It is very common to feel tingling sensations in the hands and feet and many experience slight swelling in the face, ears, and throat.

As the medicine continues to circulate, people may experience dizziness, shaking, trembling, tingling, nausea, pain, a general bodily discomfort, fainting, cathartic release, purging and defecation.

The discomfort present is the accumulation of toxins (physical and emotional) in your body wanting to exit. Purging can take a number of forms including vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, crying, and sounding.

There's never any guarantees of what the experience will be like, and sometimes people report beautiful treatments – dropping into states of calm, enlightenment, euphoria and bliss.

The experience will be uniquely yours, and it will be between you & Kambo.

During your process I will be intuitively aiding with song, drumming, streamed music, and smudging (sage & palo santo). I may also be rewetting and flipping the points.

After Ceremony Dragon’s Blood

After the release (about 20-40 minutes), nausea will subside and the medicine will be taken off of the skin.

After the Kambo points are removed, the gates are dressed with a Peruvian tree sap solution called ‘Sangre de Grado’, or Dragon’s Blood.

Dragon's Blood is an analgesic, antiseptic, antibacterial, and it forms a natural seal around the wound which helps with healing and prevents scarring.  It also ensures that the gates stay free from infection until they scab naturally within a day or so.

The burn marks will heal and fade with time, but depending on your skin color and type you may always have small visible scars. Most people see their Kambo marks as a badge of honor to be worn proudly and many ask to have the dots arranged on the skin in a pleasing artistic pattern.

The same burn points can be reused after 2-3 months.

HOLDING SPACE

After the process, you’ll either feel invigorated or completely wiped out. In any case, I will hold space for people to rest and recover after the medicine is removed. This will be a space of non-interference, mindfulness, presence and pure love.

I personally find this period to be incredibly powerful and profound. It is a magnificent opportunity to explore, reflect and fully embrace the experience.

It is during this time that Sananga may be applied.

Tea and light food (soup, fruit, etc.) will be available when one is complete.

Closing ceremony will end the process.

Days Following

It is important to rest after Kambo and remember that this experience is within the mind/body. Let the power of Kambo healing fully immerse your being.

The most profound results are found in the days after the medicine. Notice how you feel and be aware of what is coming up and embrace the beauty of the medicine and how it will change you and your inner self.
